The Danbury Chapter
Welcome!!
The Danbury Chapter, chartered August 31, 1966, presently numbers over 40 members. The Chorus is a member of The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA).
The Society is a widely recognized, ever growing, singing fraternity of men, drawn together by their love of 4-part, a capella, close-harmony style of music known as barbershop. Their mission is to perpetuate that style by sharing it and their love for i t with people of all ages throughout the world; and to be a leader in the cause of preserving and encouraging vocal music in our education systems and in our communities as a lifelong recreational activity and essential element in one's cultural well-bein g. SPEBSASA's motto summarizes these lofty goals in five simple words:The Danbury Madhatters Barbershop Chorus, as members of the SPEBSQSA, helps support a major service project, Heartspring.
"KEEP THE WHOLE WORLD SINGING" Heartspring's services and programs are geared toward those afflicted with Cerebral Palsy, Seizure Disorders, and other Neurological Impairments, Aphasia, Autism, Cleft Palate, Hearing Loss, Language and Behavior Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Mental Retardation, and Stuttering. Thus we have another motto:
"WE SING THAT THEY SHALL SPEAK"
