Links
Here are various links to other people's sites that I have
found interesting or useful. The links should all be up to
date but you know how the web is. It's a mess.
Search Engines
- Yahoo - Oh sure, everyone complains
about Yahoo, with its slow load time, ads and an overabundance of things not
actually related to searching, but we all keep going there. Of late, some
features of google that have broken are now working in yahoo.
- Alta Vista - I used to
use this site a lot. Now it no longer exists.
- Alta Vista
Translater (Bilden Sie Ihr web page auf vollig deutsch). The errors
in translation are often entertaining.
- Google
- This site started off with a nice clean design but it seems like
every month another button or picture is added. Tsk tsk. They added two
useful features a few years back: picture search and show cached version of
the page. Recently, these two features broke. More interestingly, these two
features have been added to yahoo, and there they work!

Povray Sites

Music Sites
- The Ultimate Band List Despite the huge
amount of
animated banner ads
and a convoluted navigation scheme, this
site can lead to actual information on the band that you are looking for,
provided the band is popular and was formed after 1990 or before 1980.
- Cyber Age internet radio with shows
archived on the server. Good industrial/goth/techno/power-noise music. The
files are recorded at a lower audio quality than syncromesh but are much
longer. Go listen to the good music and the antics of Tommy T and Robot Tom
at KUNM.
- www.musicdsp.org - source code for
audio/music programmers
- www.magnatune.com - record label
with free legal downloads
- Mashups
- linux-sound.org
- free and legal samples (not songs)
- www.ccmixter.org - creative
commons / freeware songs, including in many cases individual tracks (ie,
just the vocals, etc). Mashing/remixing/reusing is encouraged. There is
just one big problem with the site ... no downloads, only a "play" button.
- Pure House Music.net - House Music DJ Mixes
Morrowind Sites
- www.forumplanet.com morrowind - USED to be good forums. Those swine
put in a login procedure that requires far too much personal information.
After creating an account anyway, I got a stupid message saying I could
not make an account with them because I already had one. Stoopid!
So to hell with them. You should go elsewhere for Morrowind forums,
such as the forums on the elder scrolls site.
- www.elderscrolls.com - main site
- http://www.tessource.net/files
- recovered Euro-Morrowind mods
- Some Fiction - stories
set in the Morrowind universe.
- Emma's Morrowind page - home
of White Wolf Of Lokken Mountain and her many other excellent plugins
- Emma's Forums - where
you can talk about her plugins
- Adult Game Mods - including
the Morrowind plugin Infernal
Rapture
- www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind/mods/mods_sql.asp - good mods but many broken links. Try to download some mods and you get this gamespy crap about having to register. Yup, that's a broken link.
- thelys.free.fr/mods.htm - mods and more links ... and no GameSpy crap!
- qwerts.mods.web1000.com - qwertys
plugins, including his famous 100, 500, and 1000 level dungeons!
- the web page of the author of GenMod. This is where you can find and
download the latest version of GenMod. GenMod randomly makes complete
dungeon interiors, including monsters, treasure, lights, and clutter.
-
list of free graphics programs. List is intended mostly for morrowind
modders.
- Petrells Morrowind Links
- http://andargor.xgamerhosting.com/ - The homepage of mGen,
a program used to make land masses
-
http://www.modder-united.de/home/modules/news/ -
The Modder. It was a site for plugins but now it seems to only
be a forum? Dunno. I'll leave the link here in case the site changes
back to a plugin site.

PC Gaming Links
Windows Shell and Skinning Sites
No One Is Using Vista - It's so bad that it makes Windows look good.
Xena
N.S.F.W. Sites - These are all sites that may, in some places,
contain some amount of (partial) nudity.
Dungeon Siege Sites
Torchlight Links
Misc. Sites
- Common word-usage
errors - if you are the sort that says "issue" when you mean "problem", you
need to go look at this site ... right now.
- Negative Population Growth - Concerned with current
overpopulation? You should be. Want to do something about it?
- The classic Eye Of Argon
- GalTrader
- 3d Cafe - a site focusing on 3d graphics
- To get to the site without need of javascript, go
here instead
It has a lot of animated banner ads.
- Digital Blasphemy - another
3d graphics site
- A site on Tesselation Really good!
- A MUSH/MUX manual
- The mud connector
- The OSCar Pages
- A site for recipes (for food!)
- Global Cooling
- Global Warming as Mass Neurosis
- An html reference
- http://www.realultimatepower.net/
- The Official Ninja Webpage
- Bores DSP info, a site with good solid
low-math common-sense introduction to Digital Signal Processing. I just wish
he would settle down a bit with the colors!
- Anonymizer.com, a site that
allows anonymous web browsing. They push a commercial service but you
can use their site for free, with a slight delay of a few seconds for each
access. Warning: if you enable cookies, they can still trace you back.
- John Savards web page
- textfiles
Retro computer-culture textfiles. On some computers that link appears as
broken, so try this instead. This
site is funny; lots of silly 3Le3t3 haxor jargon and a glimpse into the
sCeNe of the 1970s & early 80s.
- The Gutenberg project (net)
- The Gutenberg project (org)
- The Gutenberg project (Australia)
- The High Energy Nuclear Weapons Archive - Everyone talks about about nukes but nobody really knows much about
them. Now you can actually get some information.
- www.allfreeware.com - Windows freeware
- www.freewaregamer.com - Windows freeware games
- LED Head - Hand held game simulators
- www.eff.org - The Electronic Frontier
Foundation. One of the few groups actually doing something about the
increasing encroachment of your rights on the internet. Amongst other
goodies, they have the
Open Audio License.
- Ethanol Scam
- The Great Ethanol Scam
- Tiny programs for windows - all small
enough to even fit on a floppy. The guy running it is weird: he thinks that
because you use free software you have to be a vegatarian. Ignore his fluff
and just focus on the meat (heheh) of the site: the links to the software.
- Chilling Effects aims to help
you understand the protections that the First Amendment and intellectual
property laws give to your online activities.
- a lyrics site
- Roland
MC-505 manual in PDF form.
- Spellhold Studios - a PC gaming site
- Think labyrinth
- http://www.somethingawful.com
- http://www.fark.com - A good site that
will link you to news items that you might not otherwise see .... but someone
has to tell this guy to stop spelling "asshole" as
"asshat".
- http://www.bash.org - funny quotes from
the IRC scene
- http://www.bash.cx - more funny quotes
from the IRC scene. This site is updated less often than bash.org but it
had better quotes. Seems to be gone, now.
- http://www.qdb.us - funny quotes from
the IRC scene. Connected to the old bash.cx? Unknown.
- bootable linux on CD
- www.pixelhugger.com
- www.tshirthell.com - rude and cool
t shirts
- www.hassings.dk/lars/fonts.html
- if you like the default xterm/aterm/ETerm font and want it in windows
- www.musicfromouterspace.com - DIY
synth projects and stuff
- For those who ask dumb questions
- Behind the Name - look up and get the
meanings of first names
- I've been saying this since I was a
kid. Finally some other people catch up to me and realize what should have been
obvious originally.
- typogenerator.net - randomly created pics, sorta
- generatorblog.blogspot.com - blog of
sorts with links to websites that auto-generate things, usually using randomness. Alas, due
to bad html, many of the sites pointed to do not work. What do I mean bad-html?
Flash, shockwave, jav* are not html, thus they are bad html.
