Piccies
Here are some pictures that I have created using mostly
POV-Ray,
arrayed in no particular order. All images copyright ©1998-2002
by Peter C. Capasso except as otherwise noted.
Greenv A small vial is filled with a cloudy green
liquid. povray's scattering media was used to make the liquid murky.
A pencil is included in the image to get a sense of scale.
Strakoth 01
This one uses an iso surface and fog to get a nice effect.
Quetzal2
Here is a radial texture applied to a torus over a pleasantly textured
floor. The torus is enclosed in a silver grid formed of smaller
torii. Simple but effective.
XYZ_logo
Here is a simple trick: take a three letter logo of sorts and wrap it
around a planet. This picture has been animated
here.
Not_buh
Here is a space-filling framework of PovRay lathe objects. Multiple light
sources shining through the framework create a complex network of shadows
on the ground. The orange shape to the left is a rhombic dodecahedron.
The careful observer will notice a subtle povray lathe bug. Hint: horizon
line.
Cube
Here is a cube, inspired by a modern art abstract scupture. The cube has
been spun off into space, where it floats amidst a purple nebula. I may
eventually re-render this: gamma makes it look like cack on windows
systems.
Arthur_moon2
A co-worker at work made a rough sketch with pen on paper,
asking if the drawing could actually be done in povray. Here it is,
This is one of the few times I've gotten a height field to look
like I wanted it to.
Mooncar3
After I created the mooncar object for the previous render, I decided
to play with the car a little.
