Piccies
Here are some pictures that I have created using mostly
POV-Ray,
arrayed in no particular order. All images copyright ©1998-2006
by Peter C. Capasso except as otherwise noted.
Skytest
This sort of abstract picture was rendered in Pov ray and uses a bluish
color scheme. It started out as a simple throw-away test image for the new 3.1
povray, but somehow its simplicity ended up looking nice. Pov ray is really
great for making nice clouds, especially when you use a plane instead of a
sphere for a cloud layer.
Absence
I was just messing around with homemade distortion algorithms
on mesh2 objects in POV-Ray when I stumbled onto a look I liked.
Then I added the text and the styled mask to finish it.
Facet_torus_4
Here is one of those twisted torus objects in the style of
David Fontaine.
A shape of glass with a metal frame is twisted into a coil which in turn
is bent until it wraps around to form a torus. An attempt at an animated
version can be found here (~349K).
Techno_09
For this picture I took a break from POV-Ray and worked instead in a 2d paint
program. This one came out in sort of an abstract style.
Dest This is a strange sort of landscape, set on a possibly
alien world. Interesting textured forms, darkly colored, circle an image-mapped
sphere, which rests on snowy ground. The picture is kind of dark, so room
lighting and monitor gamma may work against it.
Dest_a Another view of the same scene as the preceding
picture. In this picture, the camera has been pulled way back and up in to the
air, pointing down at the complex. What a difference a camera angle makes.
Dest_b A third view of the same scene as the preceding two
pictures.
Dunzar This is a wallpaper made for a
litestep theme. The 4d fractal looks
real cool but renders real slow.
