KOMBUCHA MANNA NEWSLETTER # X
© 1998 by Beverly B. Ferguson: Kombucha Manna International As we are beginning to discover, there are many reasons for the beneficial effects of making Kombucha a part of your daily diet. Kombucha is made with one of the world's most popular healers _tea_. According to Michael Castleman in his book: "The Healing Herbs", tea is the world's second most popular beverage, preceded only by water! "It is also known as the world's most widely used herbal medicine".
Many kinds of tea can be used to make Kombucha most from the varieties of Black, Oolong, and Green teas. All of these teas come from the same plant: (Camellia Sinensis). The difference between the Black tea and the Green is that the Green is just the dried leaf, the Black tea is dried and then it is fermented, Oolong is in between. The latest scientific research is also indicating that the ingredients in Black, Oolong and Green teas contain many health promoting qualities.
Un-pasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar and honey, has also been recognized as beneficial for the body. Other foods, such as Yogurt and Miso, which contain healthy bacteria, are also known for their healing and balancing effects; not only for digestion, but also for the whole body. Such foods have been used world-wide for thousands of years. Kombucha too, provides benefits similar to many of these foods and even more!
Along with it's great taste, ( like sparkling apple cider), and it's thirst quenching ability, not the least of Kombucha's contribution to your health, is it's living enzymes. Kombucha is a living food and like raw fruits and vegetables, Kombucha contains enzymes. The enzymes found in living foods help the body's own digestive enzymes break down the food we eat to make the nutrients more easily assimilated. Enhancing the body's digestive process with the enzymes from living foods means the body does not have to work as hard to digest the food we eat. This gives us more energy for other activities. Have you ever noticed how tired you feel after consuming a big meal? Digestion takes a lot of energy!
It has been determined that after the age of 40, levels of digestive enzymes begin to decrease. Cooking also destroys the natural enzymes in food and many of the nutrients as well. This means you may not digest all of the food you eat as efficiently as possible. You may not be getting enough nutrients no matter how much food you eat. Do you feel hungry all the time, even after you have just eaten a big meal? Many people are overweight and undernourished! They keep eating more and more food, desperately trying to get the nutrition their bodies need. Actually, they are "starving" while overeating! When you drink Kombucha, it adds it's living enzymes to your digestive process and suddenly many people feel a "burst of energy" and a "sense of well being". As a matter of fact: the most common statement people make about drinking Kombucha is that it increases their "sense of well being". If it also aids digestion and assimilation of nutrients in the food we eat by contributing living enzymes, so much the better. Enjoy Kombucha daily -it tastes good and it is good for you
