The Evening [edit] [delete] Lynx (Admin) |
It wasn't long that you spent in Veronica's house; perhaps thirty minutes. Cyon is dropped off at his house by 6:00, and Veronica and Maynard are set to leave by 5:15.

Going for a Drive [edit] [delete] Veronica Alder |
OOC: Feel free to post anything else you'd like on 'The Disk'; IMO it needs at least one more for 'closure', and then we can come back to this thread; I just wanted to get things back on track, we bogged down a bit there.
Veronica drives through the light rain in silence, pondering the strange events of the evening. Occasionally she glances over, as if to comment, but always decides against it. Finally, they arrive. She turns to Maynard as the car comes to a stop, "Alright, we need a plan. You're going to look around the neighborhood....how about I'll call you at 10:45? That should give us enough time to get to Cyon's house by 12:00." After a slight pause, she continues, "If I fail to call, you may presume something has happened. But I'm not sure there's much you can do." She turns back to stare out the windshield, running her hands through her hair, "This is all still not making very much sense....but at least now we're beginning to realize what is expected of us, if not what the outcome will be." OOC2: Maynard, care to describe where we've arrived? :) OOC3: GM, what is the relative distance (time based) beteen Maynard's House, My House, Cyon's House and the club? |

Home sweet home... [edit] [delete] Maynard Evers (Hunk) |
Maynard lives in a rather drab, square five-story building in the Belltown-Denny Regrade area. As you look around, you notice there are a lot of drab, square buildings. While not a bad area, it must look like a slum after coming from Veronica's apartment. There a few sweaty young guys relaxing on the front steps, having some cold beers. All in all, a fairly average, lower working-class neighborhood with cheap rent.
"10:45 should be fine. If you don't call...dress code be damned, I'm coming into that club. Be careful...ok?" |
Right; 10:45 [edit] [delete] Veronica Alder |
She takes out her pocket secretary, "Right...what's your cell number? I shall call at 10:45, if not sooner."
Veronica takes the number down, if given. "You have the directions, right? Try to get a good idea for the neighborhood, it's you that'll be driving us out of there if things go to hell." She pulled herself up in the car seat, "Alright then, all set? So long as everything stays casual neither of us should be at any great risk...not yet." |
Right... [edit] [delete] Maynard Evers (Hunk) |
Maynard opens the passenger side door and steps out. "Have fun at the club." He takes another look at her attire. "Somehow, I don't think you'll have much trouble getting the information."
He closes the door and approaches the building, greeting the young men on the steps. (Lynx: Do Tomorrow and I both continue to use this thread?) |
Driving [edit] [delete] Veronica Alder |
Veronica pulled away from Maynard's building and drove at a fairly rapid pace to the nightclub, parking and entering. (OOC: You can just describe this, it's easier than going back and forth over tiny details every post.)

Getting ready... [edit] [delete] Maynard Evers (Hunk) |
Maynard heads upstairs to his apartment on the second floor and changes into something a little more comfortable. (Jeans and a loose t-shirt, with his Secure Vest under it) Grabs his cell phone and heads back downstairs. He walks to Rasputin's garage (it's in the same area) and picks up his bike, then drives over to the club. (Not actually TO the club, of course, just within sight of it.)
The Green Bat [edit] [delete] Lynx (Admin) |
The club is situated on the lowest floor of a multi-use building, it looks about eight stories high.
The area around it, while expensive, lacks the flare of the cities nicest areas. Nevertheless, the cars entering the parking lot beside the club all appear to be in the upper price ranges. |
Surroundings... [edit] [delete] Maynard Evers (Hunk) |
Maynard notes the buildings to the club's immediate left and right and then drives around the block to the area behind the club.
The Area [edit] [delete] Lynx (Admin) |
To the immediate left of the club is a four story parking garage, above which are offices. To the right is a cafe at street level. Above seem to be apartments, but there may be offices as well.
As you circle the block, it becomes clear that The Green Bat is the only large establishment of it's kind in the immediate vacinity. Behind the club is the official entrance to the building that the club is housed in, opening into a well furnished foyer. It appears that the building belongs to a real-estate firm, O.E. Parker & Willard. A stark contrast to the supposedly underworld feel of the club beneath. |
Back around the block... [edit] [delete] Maynard Evers (Hunk) |
(Is the real estate office open?)
Maynard takes another look around for anything of interest and then heads back to that cafe. He enters and orders a soda at the counter, then finds a table with a clear view of his bike parked outside by the sidewalk. He dials up Cyon's home number on his cell phone, and after exchanging pleasantries, says, "O.E. Parker and Willard...see what you can find out." |
The Real Estate Office [edit] [delete] Lynx (Admin) |
The building itself is still open, however it looks as if business hours have concluded. The only people moving in and out seem to be wage-slaves that were forced to work late, and the guard in the lobby looks distinctly bored...but it's very hard to tell from the street, they may be open.
Unfortunately, the only table of the type you're seeking is occupied by a rather large female troll, a 'small' infant sitting in the opposite chair. And what kind of soda did you want? :) |
Ahem... [edit] [delete] Maynard Evers (Hunk) |
So...nevermind about the bike, so what if it gets stolen, he takes a table that is available and less dangerous. And he has a Mountain Dew.

Cyon's Arrival [edit] [delete] Cyon |
Cyon arrives at his small house located on the outskirts of Seattle. It is hard to notice when you first get to it, as it is a dark color, possibly a faded Maroon, and hidden in the shadow of the larger apartments on either side. It may have been a caretaker living-quarters some time back, but now it has been rented out to glean a small amount more money for whomever the owner is.
The neighborhood seems decent, with none of the usual gang members, who often found in the lower-class areas, hanging out on the streets. Instead, the lawns are decently cared for, if more grass than dirt could be considered that, and the buildings are not falling into too much disrepair, although they always need more work. Cyon pays the cab driver and starts walking towards the house. He looks around nervously, although there isn't much for him to be worried about at the moment, only stress from the day's occurrences and for what he is about to do. Nobody is out as he reaches his front door, the only door that can be opened from the outside, the back door being strongly bolted from within. The door is slightly off-center, being more to the right when looking at the front of the house. There are only two windows heavily tinted, although it is made to look like dirt, on the front of the house, both slightly off-center of either side of the door. |
Cyon's Entry [edit] [delete] Cyon |
Cyon reaches the door to the house and keys in his code; a complex number which he enters very quickly with multiple fingers, hiding what he does with his hand at the same time. It is apparent from how adept he is at it that he has either practiced the code for a long time or has related skills. He immediately opens the door, steps inside, and closes the door in one motion. He throws three bolts, located at different heights, on the door and hits a shut-off switch for the keypad.
The little light coming in the window of the entranceway is not enough to illuminate the room. Little can be seen, except a wall directly to the left, a hallway extending out directly in front of him, and a little vestibule to the right. A soft light fills the hallway and the vestibule as Cyon flips on a light-switch. The hallway and vestibule that are now lighted are simply but elegantly furnished. A small table is in the corner of the vestibule closest to the door, with a chair on either side. The far side has a coat-rack in the corner and a closed door on the inside wall with the door, when opened, blocking the rack. Cyon walks down the hallway, past two doors, one on either side, until he reaches another two doors near the end of the hallway. He opens the door on the right and flips on the light in the bathroom. After wetting a small cloth from a towel stand he wipes his face and then dries it. After shutting off the light and closing the bathroom door behind him, he enters the opposite room. The bedroom is just as dark as the hallway until Cyon turns on the lights. In this case, only a single floor lamp turns on, but the glow from it clearly lights a small but comfortable bedroom. A bed takes up the corner to the right of the door, and a dresser takes up the corner to the left. The far side of the room has a door in the outside wall, although heavily bolted, including an old-fashioned, but very effective, mental bar in clamps mounted directly in the framing of the house. Near the door, although allowing it to be opened, is a very comfy looking easy-chair facing a desk opposite it with a trid on it. Next to the trid is a sliding door leading into what appears to be a closet. |
Cyon's Preparation [edit] [delete] Cyon |
Cyon enters the room closing the door. He returns to the hallway after a brief time in some plain, but comfortable, clothing. He goes back down the hallway, entering the door on the right and flipping on the light. A room the entire length of the house is lit up by an assortment of ceiling and floor lamps. The first section is a living room, with the couch as the separator from the dinging room. In the living room a couch and a chair make up the seating, all of them facing the front wall of the house centering on a hutch holding up another trid.
The coffee table seems to be the main table used in the room since it has a phone and desktop computer on it, as well as a few magazines. Cyon walks around the couch and through the dinging room/kitchen to the sink. He gets himself a glass of water and returns to the couch. He sits down and closes his eyes for a moment, while holding the untouched glass. After a moment he sits up, puts the glass on the table and turns to the computer. Instead of jacking into the computer or any of the cables also there, he starts a game of solitaire to calm his mind. He completes this after a few moments, and with a sigh leans down and picks up a cable. He then lays back, hesitates for a moment, and then enters the matrix. |

Cyon's Search [edit] [delete] Cyon |
Cyon enters the Green Bat's web site and does a detailed search for any information that might be of use. Once that search is completed, he searches across all public nets for information on the Green Bat, and also on Edgar Drax, Yosse Farrington, David Kell, and Alex Omar.
Cyon's Call [edit] [delete] Cyon |
During the search Cyon receives a phone call that is patched through to his persona. He checks the incoming caller and, seeing that it is Maynard, answers.
"Is there anything wrong?" After a short conversation of, "Ok, just very jumpy, glad to hear everything is ok" and "Sure, I'll look into it" he disconnects the call. Cyon adds O.E. Parker and Willard to the search. |

Ring Ring, Maynard [edit] [delete] Veronica Alder |
Not long after he gets off the phone with Cyon, Maynard's cellphone begins to ring.
"Hello, Maynard? I have the footage, I'm going home to take a shower and change. Meet you at Cyon's at 12:00?" Veronica is driving as she talks, and pulls into the parking lot under her building, remaining in the car as they converse. |

Right-o. [edit] [delete] Maynard Evers (Hunk) |

Maynard quickly finishes his drink and hops on his bike outside. "Roger dodger, I'm on my way." He then heads for Cyon's place.

Home again. [edit] [delete] Veronica Alder |
"Right, I'll see you in a bit."
Veronica kills the cellphone connection as she enters the elevator to the lobby, stepping out of it with a nod to the guard as she checks her mail, then enters the elevator for Floor 21. She takes a quick glance up and down the hall before pressing her thumb upon the print scanner and opening her door, bolting it behind herself as she turns on the lights and heads down the hall to her bedroom. After changing out of the bodysuit and into a far more casual pair of jeans and a blouse she heads into the kitchen and searches through the refrigerator, finally settling on several slices of bread and cheese, which she eats in silent thought, barely tasting what she's eating. Finally she stands up, uses the bathroom and leaves, locking the door behind her as she descends to her car and drives to Cyon's house. |
A slight change of plans [edit] [delete] Veronica Alder |
Suddenly in the middle of the drive Veronica reaches down and shuts off the vehicle's autonavigation system, turning right at a traffic light and continuing for several minutes before turning again...and again. She glances periodically in her rear view mirror, a look of concern growing on her face.
At last she pulls onto a stretch of highway, watching the traffic behind her carefully for a few moments. Then, with a deft turn of the wheel, she spins the car around through a turnabout, prominently labeled, "No U-Turn" Several moments later she pulls the car off an exit ramp and onto a sidestreet. Once out of sight of the highway she glances around the road. It's relatively deserted, but to be cautious, she moves through the parking lot of a deserted mini-mart as she begins the process of sending electric currents to the car's license plate and paint, both of which spontaneosly shift. The green BMW is now silver, the license plate and transponder codes regenerated by the time her car pulls onto another road on the other side of the mini-mart. With a sigh she reactivates the autonavigation system and sits back, but opens the glove compartment, removing a handgun. She drops the magazine out, checks the ammunition, and then slides it back into the breech, pulling a round into the chamber with a sharp *C-shick* of the slide. Veronica continues to Cyon's house, the furrow of her brow deepening steadily. |

Cyon's Completion [edit] [delete] Cyon |
Cyon sits up and places the cable back where it came from. He lays back yet again, with his eyes closed. After a moment he stands up, getting the glass of water as he does so. He walks slowely to the kitchen drinking the water as he goes and then washes the cup, dries it, and places it back in the cabinet.
Despite being able to have a lot of amenities, the kitchen is pretty bare of them, everything looking to be old-fashioned, or at least designed to emulate it. Cyon returns to the computer at the couch and creates a detailed report on all the information that he learned. He includes all past information, and then prints it out. He then starts to plan out what he can do to get more information himself, and what they can do as a group. He continues to do this with his eyes closed, his mouth open, and a small snore coming from him every once in a while. |
