Hearth Beat

The biomorphic stucco hood (above) acts as an old-fashioned hearth, but contains a high-tech exhaust system.  The glass in the center of the bay window is fixed (left and below), and two sheets of slate cantilever from each side to act as indoor and outdoor dining tables.

Black slate slabs (above) radiate from the "hearth" and separate the kitchen and dining room flooring.
