SECOND WIND CSA - A new Community Supported Agriculture project located at Four Winds Farm in Gardiner, NY

Four Winds Farm is a family owned and operated farm located on 24 acres in Gardiner, NY.  Jay and Polly Armour have been farming this land Organically for over 20 years, and have operated a CSA since 1993.

Jay has turned the CSA portion of the farm over to Wes Hannah and Bryn Roshong, Four Winds interns from the 2011 season, who will breathe into it a SECOND WIND.

With Jay as their guide, they will continue to farm in the tradition of Four Winds, using an Organic no-till method.  Since tractors are rarely used and weeding is done by hand or with hand tools, this method of farming not only leaves a very small carbon footprint, the resulting super-healthy soils produce great quality vegetables.  You can taste the difference!

In addition to the CSA, the farm also raises Grass-fed Beef.  Our animals are treated with kindness and respect and are fed healthy, natural diets

HOW A CSA WORKS

Community Supported Farms (also known as Community Supported Agriculture projects, or CSAs) are mutually beneficial arrangements between farmers and member families. They ensure a generous supply of fresh, high quality produce to the consumer, while also providing a reasonable income for the farmer. And by directly supporting local farms, members help keep local agriculture profitable & sustainable.

What to Expect

Being a member of our CSA provides you with a weekly supply of fresh, local, sustainably grown vegetables.  Our shares cost $540.  The shares are designed to generously accommodate the vegetable needs of two adults or a small family.  The contents of the share will vary over the course of the growing season.

Schedules and Times

Members may choose between two pickup days:

Tuesdays from 2:30 - 7:30 PM at the farm

Wednesdays from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Hudson Highlands Land Trust in Garrison

Pickups begin the first week of June and run through the last week in October.
