Who is the Author of this website?

Hi! My name is Dan Montez. Growing up in the church, I had very little interest in science. I attended dozens of CES activities from "Know your religion" to "Education Weeks" where science and evolution was regularly mocked and derided as being anti-God. I began to practically worship the foes of evolution and activiely fight against those who taught it. I studied the scriptures and was convinced evolution and those that believed in it were evil. To make a long story short, I was turned upside down and inside out by a BYU biology professor who taught me to love and respect science. This professor spent much of his precious time with me sharing his testimony that scientists might actually be inspired by God to slowly discover the means by which our Heavenly Father created all things. He was the first to show me how to reconcile the gospel with science and the declarations of many church leaders on the subject.

In my ward, I actually witnessed members of the primary teaching the children that "the dinosaur bones were put into the ground by God to test our faith." But even more sadly, I saw members of my ward leave the church because of this subject. After going to college and studying the discoveries of science, these members felt forced to abandon the facts or leave the church. Sadly, this choice was not pushed upon them by the university, but rather by church members! No one should want people to leave the church because they think the gospel is incompatible with this subject. If I might keep one person from leaving the church for this reason, it would be enough reason to create this website.

There are more complete websites than this at the BYU website and the Eyring Website. Please visit them for more materials. My hopes are that this site will reach people that the other sites would not. More particularly, I hope that the site will deal with the religious, scriptural and spiritual questions many people may have.

I am not a professional scientist. It is a hobby of mine. My favorite subjects to study are evolution and time theory (theoretical physics). Professionally, I am a classical musician and I manage an opera company. I live in New York state with my wife and three children.
