Volunteer Opportunities

Become an active participant in the St. A's community by contributing
your time and talent!

There is one spot open to go to Nicaragua this July. Please see Father Brad if you are interested in going down to build houses.

Do you sing, play the guitar or the violin, either solo or in a group? We would like to showcase your talents! St Aís has received a grant to help ensure that we have music at both of our services. The choir will continue to sing at the 9:00 am service, and we would now like to provide other musical offerings at the 10:30 am service as well. This is a special opportunity for parishioners to showcase their talents by singing and/or playing as an important contribution to our worship program. Ideally, we will do this about four times during the year. Any one who would like to offer their voice/instrument at the 10:30 service please contact our organist and musical director, Laura Ravotti, at(914)736-9015, see her after service, or email her at laravotti@gmail.com. In addition,we are looking for new choir members for our 9 am choir - so anyone interested in participating in this way should also contact Laura.

We are recruiting new members for all the crucial worship teams that help make our services happen. Please consider volunteering to join any of these important ministries: Altar Guild, Choir, Lay Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers, Acolytes and Crucifers, and Babysitters. We can't make it happen without you!

Peekskill Soup Kitchen - Help is needed one day each month for cooking various components of our meals. We provide one meal a month, delivered and served on the fourth Thursday of each month, to this long-standing local program that feeds 60-80 of those in need on a daily basis. If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact Myrlin in the parish office at august@bestweb.net.

Babysitters needed - All parishioners in the Eighth Grade or above who are interested in babysitting during the Sunday services should email Myrlin in the office at august@bestweb.net to be added to our babysitter list. Babysitters will be scheduled as pairs for each Sunday, so if you would like to have a permanent partner please let us know. Babysitters will be scheduled to work from 10:15 to 11:15 am. Each babysitter is paid $10 per hour.

Prison Ministry - The Diocesan Commission on Criminal Justice welcomes the participation of anyone interested in prison ministry. Please contact The Rev. Canon Charles Pridemore (914-941-0806) regarding the meeting schedule. Ossining Prison Ministries at Sing Sing offers hospitality to family members visiting inmates as well as a children's program for those whose relatives are incarcerated, on Saturday and Sunday mornings. For more information, please contact Betsy Roadman.

Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison offers college courses to inmates at Sing Sing. There are many ways to be involved. Call Hudson Link for more information (941-0794) or check out their website at www.hudsonlink.org: Hudson Link

Eucharistic Ministers - Are you interested in helping our liturgical life? We are in need of a few more Eucharistic Ministers. Eucharistic Ministers read, lead the prayers, and lead the psalms at Saturday and Sunday services. They also assist at Communion. Middle and high schoolers can also participate. If you are interested in helping with this vital role, please contact Fr. Brad at bdyche@bestweb.net.

Altar Flowers and Coffee Hour - Sign-up sheets are on the kitchen bulletin board in the Parish Hall. Please consider volunteering to donate flowers or provide coffee hour one upcoming Sunday. Cost for Altar Flowers is $40. To volunteer for coffee hour contact Kim in the Parish Office or Loren at zackhome@optonline.net.

Buy Grocery Shopping Cards and help support St. A's. One of the easy ways that you can support St. A's is by purchasing grocery cards to local stores. 5% of the face value of the card goes to St. A's, so for every $100 you spend, $5 goes to St. A's. Cards are available for A&P/Food Emporium and Shoprite. St. A's Cards are available for the A&P/Food Emporium and Shoprite. Cards are usually sold during coffee hours, or may be purchased during office hours.
