Georgia's Electric Chairs

Georgia: 2 electric chairs. The first was used from 1924-1964. The second was built in the seventies and used from 1983-1998. Electrocution was declared unconstitutional by the Georgia Supreme Court in 2001.

Georgia's original electric chair at Reidsville is still in place on the now vacant fifth floor of the Georgia State Penitentiary.   The one at the Georgia Diagnostic Classification Center near Jackson is stored in a closet, not on display.
